Posterior capsule opacification
Also known as: secondary cataract
Posterior capsule opacification is a clouding of the back wall of the capsular bag that can appear months or years after cataract surgery. Vision becomes hazy again, much as it was before the operation.
It is not a return of the original cataract; the natural lens is gone for good. It is treated with a brief laser procedure that involves no incision.
