Retinal detachment

Retinal detachment is a condition in which the retina separates from its underlying layer and loses its blood supply. It announces itself as a sudden increase in floaters, flashes of light, or a dark curtain moving across the visual field.

It is an emergency requiring prompt specialist care. With these symptoms, do not put off an examination.
