Partial DMEK

Also known as: hemi-DMEK, quarter-DMEK

Partial DMEK is a variant of DMEK in which not the whole circular graft is used but only part of it, for instance a half or a quarter. After transfer, the endothelial cells gradually spread across the uncovered area as well.

The point is to make better use of donor tissue, since one graft can benefit more than one patient. These are newer approaches and are not applied in every case.
