Also known as: optical coherence tomography
OCT is a non-contact scan that uses light to produce a cross-section of the retina at very fine resolution. It shows the individual layers much as a microscopic section would.
It is used mainly to monitor the macula and the optic nerve. The scan is quick and painless.
