LASEK

LASEK is a surface method related to PRK. The outermost cell layer of the cornea is not removed but loosened and moved aside, then returned to position after the laser has done its work.

The aim is to reduce post-operative discomfort compared with PRK. This too is a surface procedure without a flap, so healing takes longer than after LASIK.
