Keratoplasty

Keratoplasty is a corneal transplant, meaning the replacement of a damaged part of the cornea with donor tissue. It is performed when the cornea has lost its clarity or its proper shape.
Rather than exchanging the full thickness, current practice favours replacing only the layer that is diseased. Healing is quicker and the risk of graft rejection lower.
